What’s Your Double Black? Interview with Mitchell

What’s Your Double Black? Interview with Mitchell

Life's challenges can often feel like skiing down a "Double Black" slope — one of the steepest, most daunting runs on the mountain. Just like the intense difficulty of such a slope, obstacles in life seem treacherous and overwhelming at first. However, just as skiers approach a Double Black run with careful preparation, we too must equip ourselves with the skills and mindset necessary to navigate life's toughest moments. It’s not about avoiding the slope; it’s about learning how to tackle it head-on. Every successful turn on a "Double Black" slope is a small victory, and each small victory in life is a reminder of our ability to overcome. In time, what once seemed impossible becomes part of our journey, making us stronger and more resilient.

Interview with Mitchell Sample - 20 years as an avid skier

DBS: “What does Double Black mean to you?”

Mitchell: “Double Black is setting a goal and learning how to overcome the obstacles and push through regardless of the situation. Growing up on the mountains I had always used my goal of conquering the double black diamonds as a metaphor in my life. Falling down and getting back up was always a part of the game for me and when I learned about this brand I knew it had a deeper meaning that would resonate with me.

Never standing down and doing everything I can to achieve my goal is the definition of success. You can’t become better without pushing boundaries and forcing yourself to overcome your Double Black”
